Bengals Cut Antonio Bryant

This March, wide receivers Antonio Bryant and Terrell Owens worked out for the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals chose Bryant, who was coming off surgery to repair cartilage damage in his left knee. Bryant signed a four-year $ 28 million contract with Cincinnati. Now, however, it seems that the Bengals have chosen Terrell Owens rather than Bryant.
It was announced today that the Bengals had released the 29 year old Pittsburgh product, a result of his training camp struggles and inability to run routes at full speed because of left knee weakness.
With Chad Ochocinco and T.O. as the number one and two wide receivers respectively, the Bengals will now use a combination of their many young receivers for the third wide receiver position, including Jerome Simpson, Andre Caldwell, and Quan Cosby. Although very talented, these receivers lack experience.
Now that Antonio Bryant is gone, Ochocinco and T.O. are front and center. They are the focal points of this passing attack, which creates a very shaky situation.
T.O. and Ochocinco have a very volatile relationship. They are best friends right now; but, they are also one game away from being ball-hungry enemies. Say for example, that one game, Chad Ochocinco catches 10 passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns while T.O. catches two passes for 20 yards. Not only will T.O. complain to Carson Palmer for not throwing him the ball, he will complain to Bengals' ownership for not receiving ample opportunity to fulfill his incentive-laden contract, which will reward him approximately $333,000 for milestones such as 60 catches, 900 yards, and 10 touchdowns.
If the situation reverses and T.O. has a huge game while 85 doesn't, Chad Johnson will complain; Carson Palmer will hear more than "child please" and "Kiss the baby".
The problem is that if the relationship between Carson Palmer, Ochocinco, and T.O. goes awry - and given the polarizing and self-promoting nature of these two veteran wide receivers, there's a very legitimate chance that it will- the Cincinnati Bengals are in serious trouble.
They no longer have the Antonio Bryant security blanket, a player with the size and speed to be a viable downfield option for Carson Palmer.
